Buy your ticket for Paris; the Biennale des Antiquaires will take place from September 14 to 23, 2012. The 26th Biennale will be held in the beautiful Grand Palais. Organized by the Syndicat Nationale des Antiquaires since 1956, the Biennale presents antique furnishings, jewelry, and works of art of unsurpassed quality. The 130 exhibitors have to be selected in order to participate, and they come from all around the world for the privilege of doing so. Several of the top international jewelers will be there, including Bucheron, Bulgari, Cartier, Chaumet, Dior, Piaget, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Harry Winston. How I’d love to see their displays!
Speaking of displays, Karl Lagerfeld is bringing a couture touch by preparing the staging, decoration, and the poster for this year’s event. He’s going to recreate the look of Paris’ covered shopping arcades, inspired by the soaring glass roof of the Grand Palais. The admission is 30€ per person, the catalog is 45€, and there is a special offer of 80€ for two entries and a catalog.
Biennal (be-n-al) means biannual. (Add an “e” to make it feminine.) If you miss this one, you’ll have to wait until 2014 to see such a spectacular display of antiques under one glass roof again.
