“Don’t play with your food!” said your mother. But what if playing with your food is your job?
Pierre Javelle and Akido Ido met in art school in Paris. Together, the couple created the company minimiam (mini –mee-am). Miam means “yum” in French and the art that these two create is definitely good enough to eat. Ido is a highly acclaimed food photographer (including these photos) and Javelle builds tiny figures and polystyrene replicas of food (real food is too unstable to work with).
Here’s a great video of their work. Every little detail is the creation of their fertile imaginations in their studio in Montmartre. The key to each of their more than 100 scenes is the story that they want to tell, but all of the stories will end by bringing a smile to your face and a sense of wonder to your heart. The duo is collaborating on a book as well as a New York exhibit.
